nepal promoted to division 2 in world cricket


Kathmandu, Oct 29: Nepal has been promoted to Division 2 in world cricket after making it to the final of World Cricket League Division 3 final.


Nepal defeated hosts Malaysia in the semi-final today held at Kuala Lumpur by 36 runs through the Duckworth/Lewis method, after the match was affected by rain.

Nepal will now meet Uganda in the final of the league tomorrow. Uganda also secured a promotion to Division 2 by defeating Bermuda by 7 wickets in the second semi-final today. Nepal and Uganda ended with 8 points each and thereby qualified to Division 2.

In the match today, Malaysia scored 142 runs losing all its wickets in 43.3 overs after being put into bat by Nepal. Captain Paras Khadka took 4 wickets to limit Malaysia to a paltry total. Bhuvan Karki took 3 wickets while Shakti Gauchan took 2 wickets. 

 In reply, Nepal had compiled 89 runs in 25 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. However, the match was obstructed due to rain and thus decided through the D/L method. Naresh Budha top scored for Nepal with 42 runs followed by Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla who scored 35 runs. RSS
