PM Koirala assumes patron role of Nepal Scouts
Kathmandu, May 18: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala assumed the guardianship of the Nepal Scouts amid a programme this morning.
At the investiture ceremony, National Commissioner
of Nepal Scouts Rabin Dahal administered oath to the Prime Minister with
a touch of the Nepal Scouts flag.
World Scouts Bureau's Partnership Coordinator Moses Idagoo was also present on the occasion.
A Ugandan national, Idagoo, arrived in Nepal with
the programme for mobilizing the volunteers in the rescue and relief
operations after the devastating earthquake struck the country.
As per the information provided by the Chief
Commissioner Dahal, the Scouts volunteers are mobilised in the rescue
and relief of the quake victims since April 25, the day the earthquake
occurred.
The Scouts has constructed temporary shelters in
Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok and also handed them over to the quake-hit
people there.
Speaking on the occasion, PM Koirala said the
calamity could be faced based on unity and partnership. He also said
that he was very impressed by the volunteerism, welfare, supportive
attitude and collectivism of the Scouts.
He said the foreigners have praised the good work
being carried out in Nepal regarding the rescue and relief of the
earthquake victims even in the midst of lack of proper knowledge,
logistics and experienced human resources.
PM Koirala said there has not been any let up in the
resolute willpower of making Nepal a peaceful, politically stable,
developed and prosperous democratic republic by tiding over the present
calamity through the supportive spirit and attitude of all.
The Prime Minister on the occasion observed that it
would not take long to transform Nepal through the development of
agriculture, tourism, medicinal herbs and water resources bestowed by
the nature in the light of democracy. RSS
